ATLANTA
(Nov. 17, 2009) - Last week was a big week for Carter's industry-leading green efforts in property management. The
two other finalists were Cousins Properties for 999 Peachtree and Manulife
Financial for Ashford Green. Here's
what the Clean Air Campaign said about Carter's green initiative Atlantic
Station, where we manage three office towers (171 17th Street, 201 17th Street
and 271 17th Street): "Carter
manages three multi-tenant office buildings at Atlantic Station with a total
occupancy of 1900. Nearly one-third of those have registered to log their clean
commutes online. The office buildings are environmentally friendly, having
earned both ENERGY STAR and LEED Silver certification. Carter sells transit
passes on site, and also provides a wide variety of amenities that enable
people to take care of errands without getting into their cars. Carter also
offers a bike share program that gives tenants free access to bikes for short
trips during the workday. Carter has worked with ASAP+, its local TMA, on
creative promotions to encourage commute alternative use, including this summer’s
Clean Commute Challenge which resulted in a 20 percent increase in
participation." Carter
is honored to have our effort recognized by the Clean Air Campaign. Our
Property & Facility Management group will continue to find ways to make the
buildings we manage more energy efficient. Stay tuned for some excited news
about an innovative new program we just kicked off. On
Nov. 10, the Clean Air Campaign - in conjunction with local transportation
management associations (TMAs) and RideSmart - presented its 2009 PACE Awards
to companies that have implemented effective programs to reduce traffic and
improve air quality. Carter won the PACE Award in the Property Management
Company category for our green efforts at the office buildings we manage at
Atlantic Station.
