ATLANTA (Feb. 25, 2011) - Baseball season is just around the corner and as The Lovett School begins its 2011 season, games will undoubtedly go into the night. The best part is neighbors won’t even notice.
Carter recently wrapped up the new Lovett softball and baseball complex along with the new multipurpose field project. Both projects use new field lighting that features cutoff luminaries. These luminaries eliminate light spillage which prevents late events from disturbing neighboring homes in the area.
The softball and baseball complex contains 850 seats for the baseball fans and 350 seats for softball fans. Both share a common field-house with indoor batting and pitching facilities, coaches’ offices, locker rooms and concessions. The complex features a state-of-the art natural turf playing field, with a sand base drainage system that collects all rainwater for irrigation use.
The new multipurpose field is located on the site of the former baseball field and features synthetic turf, allowing 24-hour a day usage for physical education classes, team practice and competition for soccer, lacrosse and football throughout the week. Bleacher seating for 1,500 fans allow maximum usage of this complex for practice and games.
The girls’ softball team was the first to use the multipurpose field for their fall 2010 season. Lovett’s soccer team began their season last week with their first home game and baseball will soon follow. These new athletic facilities set a high standard for K-12 athletics. We are excited for the students and families at The Lovett School as they begin using their new facilities.
