ATLANTA (Sept. 13, 2011) It has been a big year for the College of Coastal Georgia. Just a few weeks ago, the college held its third ribbon-cutting ceremony in 2011. This time the ceremony celebrated the opening of the new campus center that includes a bookstore, patio, theatre, dining hall, health center, student gathering area and student life offices.
Carter has served as project manager for all three projects completed in 2011. In addition to the campus center, the college now boasts its first residence hall and a new health and science building. These projects signify the first new building development the school has seen in 20 years. The College of Coastal Georgia recently became a four-year institution and the new construction is a reflection of the college’s growth.
The opening of the 47,500-square-foot campus center received some positive press from local media. Terry Dickson wrote about the ribbon cutting ceremony and the $42 million in new construction the school completed this year on Jacksonville.com. The article included a quote from College of Coastal Georgia President Valerie Hepburn about the excitement around the new center.
“From early morning to late night, this place is buzzing nonstop,” she said. The students spend their time “Eating, eating, eating and eating and buying the occasional textbook.”
At Carter we are excited to be a part of the College of Coastal Georgia’s expansion and we are happy to hear students are enjoying the new campus center. Best wishes to all the students, faculty and staff for a great 2011-2012 school year!
