A Cincinnati Business Courier article recently highlighted the trend that empty nesters are taking a sudden move to downtown Cincinnati. May turned to Laura Swadel, vice president of investment at Carter, for her input on why Cincinnati is seeing this shift.
When askedabout residents at The Banks — the mixed-use development located indowntown Cincinnati and developed by Carter — Swadel said, “developers at The Banks targeted young professionals. But many of the building’s largest units were snapped up quickly by empty nesters. That demographic surprised us a little bit.”
Swadel goes on to further explain what the empty nesters are after and why The Banks is an ideal location, saying, “They want to walk to work, no large furniture, green space.”
The Banks will be Cincinnati’s largest single, mixed-use development with residential, office, hotel and retail components.
