Carter has a rich history with The Lovett School in Atlanta, and was recently hired as program manager to build a 3,800-square-foot building on the Lovett campus that will serve as the home of the school’s Scouting programs and provide event meeting space. Previously, Lovett’s Girl and Boy Scout groups met off-campus or in classrooms, but as the programs continued to grow, the school turned to Carter for help building a meeting facility to call their own. Carter worked closely with the school community to complete the building, deemed the "Rogers & Westmoreland Activity Center."The versatile facility will not only support various Scouting programs, but will also accommodate Lovett’s many extracurricular activities. The building consists of a large multi-purpose room for banquets and events, as well as office and conference spaces. Groups will also have access to the catering kitchen and indoor and outdoor fireplaces.
The Activity Center was designed using natural wood and stone materials, and landscaped with native plants to complement the unique natural forest surroundings. Sustainable design principles were incorporated into the building and site, such as stormwater capture, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
The project was largely funded thanks to donations from Scout groups and Lovett School parents.
