City of Enid Votes to Expand Carter’s Role on Enid Renaissance Project

ENID, Okla. (Nov. 28, 2011) - Enid city commissioners recently approved to appropriate $243,690 to expand Carter’s program management contract to include management of construction activities for the Enid Renaissance Project in Enid, Okla.

The Carter K-12 team is the project manager for the $24.5 million project and has acted as the city’s administrative representative for construction on the project.

An article on EnidNews.com explains Carter’s expanded duties on the project will include coordination of activities with the demolition contractor, utility contractor, event center contractor, convention hall renovation contractor and utility companies. 

The Enid Renaissance project includes the construction of a new multipurpose events center, which will contain an exhibit, concert and multipurpose sports arena. Carter is also completing the renovations to the existing convention hall that will house three large ballrooms that can accommodate 800 guests, a new full service kitchen and 10 meeting rooms.

Carter has provided a valued service to the citizens of Enid for almost two years and we have a proven track record in the community due to our successful project with the Enid public schools. We are looking forward to helping the city embark on this landmark project.

 

E-SPLOST Vote Good News for Metro Atlanta Students, Teachers

ATLANTA (Nov. 16, 2011) - Voters across metro Atlanta approved the extension of the penny sales tax for education, and that's good news for students and teachers who will get new and updated buildings and facilities.

Despite the tough economy, this outcome shows how important public schools are to metro Atlanta and Georgia residents. In fact, voters have yet to vote down an education sales tax. The education special-purpose local-option sales tax, or E-SPLOST -  will infuse $3.2 billion over the next five years into schools in Atlanta, Buford and Decatur, as well as Cherokee, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett and Henry counties.

A former assistant superintendent for Support Services at Cobb County Schools, Jardine understands the importance of updating educational facilities, avoiding overcrowded classrooms and providing innovating solutions to facilitate student success. The K-12 team draws on more than 35 years of experience in planning, programming and management of 150 projects comprising $3.5 billion in value. The teams’ recent projects include extensive work with Enid Public Schools in Oklahoma and The Lovett School in Atlanta.

According to a story by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, educators and school administrators agreed passing the tax proved education is a top priority for metro Atlanta.

 

 

Enid Public Schools Kicks Off SPLOST Program with Stadium Renovations

Carter was hired in February as program manager of Enid Public Schools’ major K-12 construction and renovation program in Oklahoma. Carter’s program development services team is overseeing all aspects of the project which is being funded by $107 million in bond issuances. 

We are honored Enid Public Schools has hired Carter for such an important and historic assignment. Enid Public Schools is a fast-growing public system with 6,800 students. The system comprises one high school, three middle schools and 10 elementary, or “neighborhood,” schools.

Since February, we have started six major construction initiatives at 27 locations, nine major design initiatives at 16 locations, educational planning and programming for the new Garfield elementary school and site selection and evaluation for the new West elementary school site.

Carter has already completed renovation of the high school football stadium. We installed artificial turf, new sidewalks and fencing, repaired the irrigation system, painted stadium railings and modified the goal posts. Students will have their first opportunity to experience the new facility at the first varsity home football game is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 10.

Other ongoing minor projects include: restroom renovations at three elementary schools, restoration of a historic two classroom wooden school house, a special needs restroom addition at one middle school, stage curtain replacements at every school, HVAC replacements, and eight major re-roofing projects just to name a few.

Five months since the passage of the Bond program, Enid and Carter are involved in more than $2.5 million of projects under construction, and $28 million of projects in design. Within the next month we will have an additional $30 million under design.

Danny Jardine has over 23 years of professional experience in facility planning, programming and management of the design and construction of educational projects, including more than 5,000 classrooms representing more than $5 billion worth of construction work. He is responsible for all disciplines during the planning phase of projects to determine project scope, preliminary architectural and engineering design, total project cost and the development of the construction phase.
